Let’s dive in. 🐇🕳️
From an early age, I dreamt of becoming a millionaire and amassing a fortune.
On playdates the other girls wanted to play house, I wanted to play office.
Around 6 I started stealing my mom’s watch and wearing it around because I thought that’s what a business woman would do.
I was obsessed with her checkbook, stapler and paperweight that sat neatly on her desk at home and when she went to her office, I sat at her home desk pretending it was mine.
Raised by a single mom, I felt early on the importance of being a woman who could provide.
My mom put a delicious meal on the table every night, worked long hours during the day, and somehow still found the time to make the costumes for my high school musical.
I always knew that if there was something I was curious about, she would do anything to make it accessible to me— musical theatre summer camps, dance classes, piano lessons, a personal computer in my bedroom to go down rabbit holes on psychology and philosophy.
She set a high bar when it came to capacity and providing for her family. Selflessly devoting herself to the people she loves, often at the expense of her own well-being.
In high school, I made a personal vow that one day I would be able to reciprocate that kindness tenfold, not only to her, but to all women who care for their loved ones expecting little in return.
Which at the time meant making millions of dollars, thinking money would wipe away all the stress and worry a woman had.
I spent most of my adult life on a quest to earn a fortune but I forgot one important thing... figuring out what makes me happy.
As I realized this, I started a new quest.
The first step was to figure out what brings me fulfillment and the most joy, then follow that path towards amassing my fortune.
When you look up the etymology of fortune, you can see how much its meaning has evolved over centuries.
In the 12th century, fortune or in Latin Fortuna, meant “chance, fate, good luck.”
As centuries passed, it meant “owned wealth,” “one’s condition or standing in life,” or “position as determined by wealth.”
In the 1950s, Fortune magazine published the Fortune 500 companies, announcing them as the “most profitable American companies.”
But if we dig deep enough, way back to the Hellenistic times (which spans from 3rd century BCE to 7th Century CE), we uncover my personal favorite—an astrological term Pars Fortuna, or Part of Fortune, which represents a mathematical point in the Zodiac derived by the longitudinal positions of the Sun, Moon and Rising sign in the birth chart of an individual.
The wisdom behind this point, which on a chart is an x with a circle around it (see image below), guides us to understanding where our greatest fortune comes from - our joy, prosperity and fulfillment.
It represents where we’re lucky and where our worldly success lies—the source of happiness in one’s lifetime.
The house it is found in (noted by the numbers listed along the outside rim) represents the area of life that will make someone happy, and the sign (the symbol next to the circled “x”) represents the path it takes to happen.
And while it’s not directly tied to monetary wealth (you can look to your 2nd house for that), it is an arrow that points you in that direction.
My Part of Fortune is Pisces in the 8th House.

Here is a step by step guide if you want to look yours up and interpret it.
Steps to uncovering the wisdom in your Part of Fortune:
Access your chart (available on Time Passages) and put in your birthdate, birth time and place of birth.
Look for the “X” with the circle around it. Notice what quadrant it’s in (looks like a pie shape) and the number that is on the outer room associated with that piece of pie. As you see, mine is 8.
Look at the symbol, and cross check that with the list of a Zodiac signs below. Mine is the symbol for Pisces ♓️. You’ll also noticed there are 12. Aries is 1, Taurus 2, Gemini 3, Cancer 4, Leo 5 and so on. The numbers represent their home house.
The hard part is over! Now, ChatGPT or Bard is your best friend. Sometimes it's fun to try it in both. I find ChatGPT is more accurate when it comes to astrology. I’ve also recently learned that there is an Astrology Birth Chart GPT.
Prompt it with this “Play the role of astrologer. I want to understand the meaning of my Part of Fortune which is the (SIGN) in the (HOUSE), understanding that the house represents the area of life that will make me happy, and the sign represents the path it takes to happen.”
After you read through your results, open up your Notes app or your journal, and reflect on these prompts. There’s nothing you need to do beyond this reflection, just tune into your awareness.
What feels true about what you are reading?
When in your life have you felt the most fulfilled and happy?
Which aspects of your current reality are aligned? Which are misaligned?
To guide this process further, here is mine:
Pisces in the 8th house
Pisces, a water sign and the last sign in the Zodiac, is a mystical, sensitive and intuitive sign. ♓️
Qualities include:
Creative and artistic— often drawn to music, writing, painting and acting as a way to express their internal worlds.
Empathic and compassionate— which allows them to easily find their way through healing professions.
Spiritual and philosophical—what lights them up most is being able to make connections between many things. It’s the most psychically adept sign.
Sensitive and giving— often struggling with the harsh realities of the external world and wanting all people to be taken care of.
The 8th house, known to be one of the more complex in the natal chart, is governed by Scorpio. ♏️
This house embodies themes of transformation, rebirth and the cycle of life.
Qualities include:
Psychological transformation— conditioned to shedding old skins and emerging renewed, after confronting inner shadows.
Inheritance and legacies— which can include material inheritance but also psychological legacies passed down through generations.
Shared Resources and finances—exploring the financial ties that bind us. Economic intimacy.
Intimacy and sexuality—exploring trust, power dynamics and vulnerability in connection.
Mysticism and the Occult— with interest in the mysteries of life and the exploration of deeper spiritual truth.
Deep Emotional Healing—honoring the therapeutic process, whether through formal therapy or personal reflection and self-work.
Investigation and Research— a desire to seek the truths that lie beneath the surface.
As we integrate the two, a beautiful, albeit complex path to fulfillment starts to illuminate.
It suggests my joy and success comes from:
Embracing the fluidity of life and the interconnectedness of humanity.
Diving into transformative power of deep emotional and spiritual explorations.
Developing financial partnerships and ways for shared resources to thrive in the collective.
Utilizing my artistic expression to connect intimately with the outside world.
Helping others on their path towards fulfillment.
As I reflect on my Part of Fortune, I can look back on my childhood and see how these themes were introduced to me at a young age and feel grateful that I found my way back to them in a way that feels true for me. I can also see how there are still aspects of my life that don’t align, but those experiences are my teachers.
From my fortune, to yours,
Ashley
